NHDT give dancers the opportunity to audition for 1 or more productions/events in the dance year.  There is a $25 audition fee.  This is non-refundable and does not apply to any other company related fees.  The Nutcracker in Motion will be preformed at The Clemens Center on December 15. 2023 at 7:00 PM and December 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM.  Our Spring Production is Legends: A tribute to the music of Garth Brooks and Shania Twain that will be performed in Spring of 2024.

 

The next round of Auditions will be in July 2024.  Pre-registration is required.

 

All dancers that audition will be awarded parts in our shows.

 

It is important to know that NHDT’s decision regarding the results of the audition is final. 

 

By auditioning the dancer agrees to accept ALL parts awarded. 

Notification of parts will be emailed and posted on NHDT’s website within two weeks of the final audition dates.   

 

Once a dancer is awarded their parts and before the first September rehearsal day they are asked to renew or become a member of NHDT.  There is a Dancer’s Membership package of $100 to include membership in NHDT, production and costuming fees, a quarter page family program ad. and one ticket to the performance.  Additional membership options are available, if interested.

NHDT will supply all costumes, accessories and props for all performances.  Dancers are responsible for having new/excellent condition tights and shoes for all performances.

All dancers are required to inform NHDT of any extra activities (work, weddings, trips, school, sports, plays, concerts…) that they are participating in between August 21, 2024 - April 30, 2025.   This information helps the artistic team create the weekly rehearsal schedule.  Please see the 2023-2024 Attendance Guidelines,

Nutcracker in Motion dancers are responsible for attending all part related rehearsals during the NIM Summer  Intensive Camp.  Rehearsal will be held at the Leslie School of Dance Studios in Elmira Heights or Watkins Glen.   A summer camp schedule will be emailed with the Notification of Parts letters and posted on NHDT’s website after auditions.  Camp hours usually run between 10 am - 9 pm.  You will attend only when your parts are rehearsed.  NIM Summer Intensive Week is scheduled for August 19st through August 23th, 2024.

Dancers are required to dress appropriately for all rehearsals.  Female dancers: black leotard, pink tights & hair in a bun.  Male dancers: white shirt and black shorts or pants.  Dancers should bring all dance shoes required for the parts that they are auditioning.

Dancers are responsible for learning all choreography related to their parts.  If a dancer is absent it is their responsibility to connect with a cast member or the understudies prior to the next rehearsal to review any new choreography.

 

Nutcracker in Motion Fall/ Winter rehearsals will be run primarily on Saturdays from 1:00 PM -7:00 PM, between September and December at the Leslie School of Dance Studios in Elmira Heights and  Watkins Glen.  Additional rehearsals may be scheduled on weeknights in early September (after school hours and before dance classes begin). In all cases, rehearsal schedules will be emailed and posted on NHDT’s website to give parents enough time to coordinate your schedules. NHDT will also post weekends that there no rehearsals.  

 

Dancers are allowed two absences from fall/winter rehearsals between September 1 - November 30. There are NO ABSENCES permitted in December.  School functions are looked at separately and do not necessarily count as an absence.  If a dancer is ill and/or contagious please contact NHDT and keep the dancer at home.  Dancers that experience an injury are asked to attend rehearsal to observe.  This keeps them in the loop for when they are back on their feet.

Some "Extra Special Performing Events" are optional..  This may include Festivals,  Parades and School Time Performances. Please refer to Dancer's Running Calendar.  Some events will be designated as Mandatory and attendance will be required.

​

Parents are ask to volunteer for for a committee, event or backstage to help support the running of this organization and the productions.   Parent meetings are held on regular basis to keep the line of communication open.  

 

For Legends!, there are similar policies in place and some fees may apply. Rehearsals will still occur on Saturdays.
