NHDT give dancers the opportunity to audition for 1 or more productions/events in the dance year.  There is a $25 audition fee for 1 production or $30 audition fee for 2 or more.  This non refundable and does not apply to any other company related fees.  For the 2018-2019 Season we have the Nutcracker in Motion that will be preformed at the Clemens Center on December 15 (2pm & 7pm) and Legends!  A tribute to ... that will be performed at the Clemens Center on April 6th (2pm & 6pm)  Your dancer can be considered for 1 or both.  

It is important to know that NHDT’s decision regarding the results of the audition is final.  By auditioning the dancer agrees to accept ALL parts awarded.  Notification of parts will be emailed and posted on NHDT’s website with in 2 weeks of the final audition date.   

Once a dancer is awarded their parts and before the 1st rehearsal day they are asked to renew or become a member of NHDT.  There is a Dancer’s Membership: $15 for renewing and $20 for new.  Additional membership options are available if interested. 

If a dancer is part of the Nutcracker in Motion productions they are responsible for paying the $50.00 non-refundable Production fee & the $20 Costume Rental Fee some time in October.  We will be offerring a dancer's package to include the Dancer's membership, Production fee, Costume Rental Fee, a one line ad in the program and a voucher redeemable for one ticket to the performance.  The package total will be $100.   NHDT supplies all the costumes and props for their productions. NHDT will supply all costumes, accessories and props for all performances.  Dancers are responsible for having new/excellent condition tights and shoes for all performances. 

Nutcracker in Motion dancers are required to inform NHDT of any extra activities (work, weddings, trips, school, sports, plays, concerts…) that they are participating in between August 20-December 15, 2018.   This information helps the Artistic Team create the weekly rehearsal schedule.

Nutcracker in Motion dancers are responsible for attending all part related rehearsals during the 2018 NIM Summer  Intensive Camp scheduled for August 20 - August 24, 2018.  Rehearsal will be held at the Leslie School of Dance Studios in Elmira Heights or Watkins Glen.   A summer camp schedule will be emailed with the Notification of Parts letters and posted on NHDT’s website after auditions.  Camp hours usually run between 10 am - 9 pm.  You will attend only when your parts are rehearsed.  

Dancers are required to dressed appropriate for all rehearsals.  Female dancers: black/solid color leotard, pink tights & hair in a bun.  Male Dancers: white shirt and black shorts or pants.

Dancers are responsible for learning all choreography related to their parts.  If a dancer is absent it is their responsibility to connect with a cast member or the understudies prior to the next rehearsal to review any new choreography.

Nutcracker in Motion Fall/Winter rehearsals will be run primarily on Saturdays from 2-7:00 PM, between September 15-December 15, 2018 at the Leslie School of Dance Studios in Elmira Heights and  Watkins Glen.  Additional rehearsals may be scheduled on weeknights in early September (after school hours and before dance classes begin). In all cases, rehearsal schedules will be emailed and posted on NHDT’s website to give parents enough time to coordinate your schedules. NHDT will also post weekends that there no rehearsals.  We usually try to put 1 in each month.  

Dancers are allowed two (2) absences from fall/winter rehearsals (September 1-December 1, 2018). There are NO ABSENCES permitted between December 8 -15, 2018.  School functions are looked at separately and do not necessary count as an absent.  If a dancer is ill and contagious to stay home.  Dancers that experience an injury are ask to attend rehearsal to watch what is going on.  This keeps them in the loop for what they are back on their feet.

"Extra Special Performing Events" are optional and not mandatory.  This may include events at Barnes & Noble, Elmira Heights Oktoberfest, Parades, School Time Performances and many more. 

There will be one performance at Appleridge which will be mandatory for all dancers.  We will post the date as soon as it is available.

Parents are ask to volunteer for for a committee, event or backstage to help support the running of this organizations and it's productions.   Parent meetings are held at regular bases to keep the line of communication open.  

As for the other productions, there are similar policies in place and some fees may apply. Rehearsals would still occur on Saturdays.
